Clubhouse Rules
The club premises are a smoke-free environment. Please also refrain from using e-cigarettes, vaporizers, etc. on the property.
No firearms of any sort are allowed on the property.
Please respect the peace and natural tranquility of Center Harbor and be discreet about using cell phones and other electronic devices.
Dock Rules
Use of the pier and floats is limited to CHYC members and their guests.
Any injuries or damage to boats or the floats should be reported to the club Steward or a club officer immediately.
A wearable PFD (life jacket) for each occupant must be aboard all boats, including dinghies.
Children 10 years of age and younger must wear PFDs at all times on the pier, floats and in all boats.
Running, jumping and roughhousing are forbidden on the dock and floats. No lifeguard is on duty – swimming is strictly at your own risk.
Boats may use a maximum of 50 gallons of water
Large boats are limited to 15 minutes at the float (except with special permission from the Steward)
Dinghy Rules
Only one dinghy per member may be kept at the float. Second dinghies may be kept on the dinghy line.
Dinghies must have soft bumpers all around (including transom corners and the bow).
Oarlocks must be shipped.
Metal protrusions (stern pintles, bow fittings, etc.) must be padded.
Large dinghies (12’ and over - peapods and similar) should be tied to the East rail (facing the Boatyard); smaller dinghies should not use this area.
Dinghies should be tied with at 6-10 feet of free painter.
Dinghies without names on their transoms must be marked clearly inside the transom (or inside under the aft port rail) with the owner’s name (the Steward will do this for you if you wish).
Dinghies with outboards may not be left at the float.
If a dinghy will not be used for 2 weeks or longer, it must be removed to the dinghy line (Notify the Steward and s/he will move your dinghy to the dinghy line).
All dinghies (whether at the float or on the dinghy line) must be bailed regularly (significant amounts of water in a dinghy make it a hazard to the float and to other dinghies).
The Steward will keep a list of dinghies, their owners and the owner’s contact information.
When you leave a dinghy at the float it is your responsibility to notify the Steward of the pertinent information about your dinghy (fill out a dinghy information card and leave it in the box provided at the club bulletin board).
If the boatyard or other contractor delivers your dinghy to the float, it is still your responsibility to be sure that the required information is provided to the Club Steward.
Any dinghies found at the float that are not in conformance with these rules will be removed to the dinghy line immediately.
Tennis Court Rules
The CHYC tennis court may be used only by members and their accompanied guests.
A member may reserve the court for only one hour each day. A sign-up sheet will be posted at 5 pm each day for the following day.
Members’ children between the ages of 12 and 16, who will not be accompanied by an adult member player, may reserve the court at 5 pm for one hour of play the following day between Noon to 2 pm. They may also reserve the court at 9 am for any open hour that same day. Member’s children under 12, playing with or without an adult, should be courteous to older players and, generally, should limit their play to between Noon and 2.
No bicycles, skates, skateboards or other wheeled devices are allowed on the court.
Only tennis shoes are allowed on the court: no black or hard soles, no basketball sneakers, Tevas, Crocs, sandals, etc. – they will damage the court.
